Jordan
Jordan Grand Prix was a Formula 1 team that competed in the sport from 1991 to 2005.
It was founded by Eddie Jordan, an Irish entrepreneur, and was based in the United Kingdom. The team quickly became known for its competitive spirit, innovative engineering, and colorful presence in the F1 paddock. Although the team never won a Constructors’ Championship, it had a strong impact on the sport and became one of the more well-known independent teams in F1 history.
Jordan cars were known for their bright, distinctive yellow and green livery. The team also had high-profile sponsorships over the years, including from companies like Mild Seven, Benson & Hedges, and Deutsche Post. These sponsorships helped the team remain competitive in terms of funding, despite being an independent team without the massive budgets of the larger manufacturers.
In 2000, Jordan entered a partnership with Honda, using Honda engines for the next several years. This partnership brought competitive performance, especially with Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who managed to secure several podium finishes with the team.
In 2005, the team was sold to Aston Martin and rebranded as Spyker F1 before eventually becoming Force India and later Aston Martin again. Eddie Jordan sold his stake in the team, marking the end of Jordan's direct involvement in F1.
After the team was sold, Jordan's influence continued in F1, with several of his former drivers and team members moving on to successful careers. Eddie Jordan himself became a well-known pundit and commentator, particularly with the BBC during its F1 coverage.
