Škoda Auto is a well-known Czech automobile manufacturer with a rich history dating back over a century. It has grown from a small, local company into one of the major players in the global automotive industry, now part of the Volkswagen Group.

Founded Škoda Auto was founded in 1895 by Václav Klement and Václav Laurin, two Czech engineers. The company initially started as Laurin & Klement, a bicycle manufacturer. Later, it expanded into motorcycles and eventually automobiles.

In 1925, the company merged with Škoda Works, an industrial conglomerate, to form Laurin & Klement a.s., which was eventually known as Škoda Auto. This partnership allowed the company to access larger resources and focus on developing automotive technologies.

Over the years, Škoda has become known for producing a wide range of vehicles, from compact sedans to SUVs, with a reputation for building cars that offer great value, reliability, and practicality.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, Škoda Auto underwent significant changes, marking a new chapter in its history. In 1991, Škoda entered into a partnership with Volkswagen Group, which provided the company with the resources and technology to improve its cars and expand internationally.

This partnership helped Škoda modernize its lineup, improve build quality, and offer more competitive cars. Škoda cars began to be sold in Western Europe and other international markets, where they gained popularity for being affordable and offering good value for money.
