Model Cars - Ecto-1 - Jada - Standaard / NOOS
The Ecto-1 is an iconic vehicle from the Ghostbusters franchise, known for its distinctive look and its association with the ghost-hunting team. It's most famous for its appearance in the original 1984 Ghostbusters film and has become one of the most recognizable movie vehicles in history.
The Ecto-1 is a modified 1959 Cadillac ambulance or hearse that was turned into a ghost-catching vehicle for the Ghostbusters team. The Ecto-1 is equipped with a variety of ghost-hunting equipment, including radar systems, sensors, and various proton pack storage compartments.
In the 1989 sequel, Ghostbusters II, the Ecto-1 is restored after being in storage for years. In the 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters, the Ecto-1 makes a return, albeit with a slightly different look. The Ecto-1 also appears in Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), which is a continuation of the original films.
The original Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters was not an actual working ambulance but a modified Cadillac hearse by the Miller-Meteor Company. In the first movie, the Ecto-1 was originally bought by the Ghostbusters for a minimal amount, but its modifications (including the installation of all the high-tech equipment) made it invaluable to their operations.
In the 2016 reboot, the Ecto-1 is a modified hearse that was previously used as a vehicle for a funeral home. It is also customized to house the necessary ghost-hunting equipment.
