Model Cars - F1 Aston Martin
Aston Martin F1 refers to Aston Martin's involvement in Formula 1 racing, marking the return of the British luxury car manufacturer to the sport after several decades.
Aston Martin entered Formula 1 as a team in 2021. Although Aston Martin's Formula 1 involvement is relatively recent, the company has a rich history in motorsports, particularly in endurance racing and sports car racing.
Aston Martin's initial Formula 1 involvement was back in the 1950s when it briefly entered the sport. In 1959, the company produced a few Formula 1 cars based on the DBR4 design, but it was short-lived as Aston Martin’s focus shifted toward endurance racing.
In 2018, Aston Martin made its return to Formula 1 under the banner of Racing Point, a team that was formerly Force India. The team was owned by Lawrence Stroll, a Canadian businessman who became the team’s principal and major shareholder.
In 2018, Racing Point’s car was dubbed the Racing Point RP18, which saw the team remain competitive with several strong finishes. In 2021, Racing Point was rebranded as Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team after the company officially took over the team, marking Aston Martin’s full return to Formula 1 as a team owner.
As of the 2023 season, the Aston Martin F1 Team has continued to improve, becoming more competitive in the Constructors’ Championship. The team has shown steady growth, improving its performance and aiming to challenge for podium finishes more regularly.
