Western Star Trucks is an American manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks known for their durability, performance, and customization options. The company has a rich history of producing high-performance trucks for industries like construction, transportation, and long-haul freight.

Western Star was founded in 1967 in Portland, Oregon, as a subsidiary of White Motor Company. The goal of the company was to create premium, heavy-duty trucks that could compete with established manufacturers like Freightliner, Peterbilt, and Kenworth.

In 1979, it was sold to the Consolidated Freightways group. In 1981, it became part of the Daimler-Benz (now Daimler AG), the parent company of Freightliner. Daimler’s acquisition allowed Western Star to expand its reach in the global market while continuing to produce high-quality, heavy-duty trucks.

Today, Western Star operates as a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America and continues to produce specialized trucks that are known for their strength, customization, and rugged designs. Western Star trucks are built to handle the toughest jobs, whether it's off-road in rugged environments or hauling heavy loads across long distances. The trucks are constructed with durable steel frames, heavy-duty suspension systems, and powerful engines to ensure they can handle challenging work environments.

Many Western Star trucks are equipped with Detroit Assurance, a suite of safety technologies that includes features like collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. These technologies are designed to improve driver safety and reduce the risk of accidents.
