Force India, originally known as Spyker F1 Team, was a Formula 1 team that competed in the FIA Formula One World Championship. The team has undergone several transformations and ownership changes throughout its history but is most notably recognized for its period as Force India, which ran from 2008 to 2018.

The team was known for its strong performances, particularly in the mid-field, and for being one of the most successful teams in Formula 1 in terms of budget relative to performance. Force India F1 Team was officially born in 2008 after Vijay Mallya’s consortium took full control of the Spyker team. The team adopted the Indian flag colors and aimed to improve its performance in the competitive world of Formula 1. Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella were the team’s drivers in their debut season.

Despite its growing competitiveness, Force India often struggled with financial instability. Nevertheless, the team became a mainstay in the midfield, often outperforming teams with larger budgets. Vijay Mallya's leadership, alongside technical director Andy Green, played a significant role in shaping the team’s steady progress. However, the team still faced challenges related to consistent funding and sponsorships. Force India remained a consistent competitor in the midfield of the grid for several seasons. The team’s ability to regularly score points and challenge more established teams like Ferrari, McLaren, and Renault was one of the team’s hallmarks.
