Bedford was a British brand known for producing commercial vehicles, primarily trucks, vans, and buses. The brand was established in 1930 by the Vauxhall Motors division of General Motors (GM), and it was active in the UK for several decades.

Bedford was particularly well-regarded for its range of commercial vehicles, which were used for everything from delivery vans to heavy-duty trucks. The brand was named after Bedford, a town in the UK, and was initially set up to produce commercial vehicles. While primarily focused on the UK market, Bedford trucks and vans were sold in numerous countries around the world, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and even parts of the Far East.

The Bedford name became synonymous with robust, reliable commercial transport in many regions. As part of General Motors for much of its history, Bedford benefited from GM's resources, including engineering expertise and a global distribution network. In the 1980s, the market for commercial vehicles began to change, and Bedford’s position weakened as competition increased from other manufacturers such as Ford, Mercedes-Benz, and MAN. GM eventually decided to phase out the Bedford brand.

GM ceased production of Bedford trucks in the UK. After the closure, GM shifted its focus to other commercial vehicle brands, and the Vauxhall and Opel brands continued under GM ownership, while the Bedford name was retired.
